Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

“Ultrasound” is referred to the sound pressure with a frequency greater than the upper limit of the human hearing. Karl Dussik presented ultrasonography for the use of medicine in 1942 and performed musculoskeletal ultrasonography in 1958. Ultrasound waves can be used for therapeutic purposes as a physical therapy modality but also as a diagnostic aid in certain diseases. The most important feature of ultrasonography is that it does not use radiation or have an impact which can pose hazard to the patient and allows real time visualization of the body parts.
